The Brief

How to constantly improve artistic skills to address a diversity of concepts, from humans and imaginary creatures, to weapons and environments? How to adjust the production process to the evolution of the style of a game over a period of 10 years? How to stay agile in execution in order to meet tight deadlines, on ongoing basis?

The Solution

We used the know-how and expertise of the entire team, exposing everybody to the project and its opportunities. 

We took traditional art lessons and anatomy classes for some of the assets. AMC Lab developed custom tools for pipeline optimisation within old technology limits. We always added our own artistic licence to make an asset look ‘alive’. 

We delivered a superior visual impression within the technical requirements of the engine, and limitations of polygon count, texture, size and budget. Despite adding details, both structural and decorative to weapons, and transferring all high res details to the final asset, the character of the asset was never lost.

The Epilogue

Over ten years of ongoing collaboration. A feast of 3D art assets and evolving styles. Hundreds of characters, environment assets, weapons and props. Solid tech opportunities along the way due to technology evolving. Learning to navigate the subtleties and perks of a long term relationship.
